In true Lannister fashion, Peter Dinklage is keeping it in the HBO family with his latest project.
The Game of Thrones star will appear alongside 50 Shades of Grey‘s Jamie Dornan in My Dinner with Herv, and while we have no doubt that Tyrion would have the swagger to pull off a Hawaiian shirt if he was so inclined, his role seems pretty far removed from Dinklage’s scene-stealing turn as the Imp.
The film centers around an unlikely friendship that evolves over one wild night in LA between struggling journalist Danny Tate (Dornan) and actor Herv Villechaize (Dinklage), which results in life-changing consequences for both.
Villechaize was a French actor of British and Filipino descent (hmm), best known for his role as Nick Nack in The Man with the Golden Gun and Tattoo on Fantasy Island.
The HBO Films project hails from The Terminal‘s Sacha Gervasi, who writes, directs and executive produces. Dinklage is also an exec producer on the project, along with Steven Zaillian, Richard Middleton, Ross Katz and Jessica de Rothschild.
The film has been in the works for several years Dinklage first mentioned it in a New York Times interview in 2012 and is a personal one for Gervasi, who interviewed Villechaize shortly before the actor committed suicide.
The film is currently in production, with a release date yet to be announced.
